Brief Intervention Diversionary Program
Remote Diversionary Program for Juveniles:
Certified by training under Ken Winters, Ph.D., at the University of Minnesota, the Brief Intervention Specialist works with juveniles exhibiting mild drug-related issues or those detained for criminal activity. The specialist administers cognitive-behavioral therapy worksheets and interview questions, secures informed consent and information releases, identifies placement and treatment resources, and documents the youth’s interactions within their home or community settings via virtual observation. With expertise in motivational interviewing, stages-of-change methodology, and cultural sensitivity, the BI Specialist maintains client confidentiality and autonomy while facilitating referral to necessary services when needed.
